So as I wrote in my previous blog, we are going on a field trip. We take a seat in a taxi van and drive from the cruise terminal to Porto Marie, but first stop at the salt pans of Jan Kok, because the flamingos can be seen there.
The gray/white group are the youngest, the pink-red group are the older ones. They are always separated from each other and they get their pink color from eating shrimps. The heat separates the proteins from the pigment, turning the shrimp pink. Never known….
