Noooo I dont think its a 2! I saw this one, last week in the cinema. Its a different way of filming this time but as the viewer you are going to think a lot more about the situation. I gave it an 8!

Hahaha I guess that's the beauty behind movies! And to be fair... My girlfriend and I seem to be the only humans on this planet to not like this movie haha. Everyone and their dogs seem to think that it's a masterpiece!

Everyone and their dogs 🤣🤣🤣 I had to google it but it's really there, you're funny. Well, I thought One Life was a masterpiece, it looks nicer. Have you seen that too? Very impressive!! But in this genre I also like it when people start thinking and I did that more after this film than with One Life... I posted about it a few days ago. Coincidentally, you blog about it, https://desocialworld.com/posts/c0543a85534936abe7c80261e1e8dc4e57b47dbdee218c23168c8cfaffc41b5f?tab=posts I try to follow your blog page via subscribe, but I don't think it works...

Will check out One Life! Haven't seen it. We're closer to pushing out a brand new Zirkels with a lot of bug fixes... 🙏🏻

What I still wanted to ask! Yesterday I was talking about it with my husband that you experienced the film so differently. He said that is probably because you miss some detail info. I have not realized it and I would like to hear if that is the case, because as a neighbor country we have been given a lot. And a lot of attention is still given about the Jews who were mistreated and gassed. All facts from the 2nd WW are still "hot" in musea and schools in teaching materials at schools. I don't know if these details are also known in America and then you watch the movie differently. Example, did you know that at the start of the film when she turns on the fur coat and takes a lipstick out, that it was a fur coat of a Jewish person? The one behind the wall was gassed but that they first pick out all the beautiful things and that is where that jacket comes from...

I had no idea about the fur coat. See... here's the thing... I absolutely love the history around WWII. I've seen most of the 'big' movies around this era. Schindler's list, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Life is Beautiful, The Pianist... And I absolutely LOVE all of them. But all of these movies that I mentioned above had a PLOT to them. Characters had a journey – which almost always ended in a bad finale – and a path that they were put on that you could follow. With The Zone of Interest I didn't really get Glazer's story at all. In fact, I'd go as far out as to say that there is no story. 🧐 All we do is watch a Nazi family do things next to Auschwitz... And I get that Glazer was trying to show us how Nazis would normalize everything without even caring about where they were living next to... But the whole thing just didn't work for me 🤷🏻‍♂️

I understand it completely but I also think you missed more details such as the coat... The Imitation Game (2014) is also recommended https://www.moviemeter.nl/film/97636/info/filtered bit older film but definitely worth it!
