Thank you, really enjoyed reading it. I've been seeing a lot being posted about CC's recently. Honestly, I've yet to properly engage with them. I have bought and sold a few - though find the whole thing feels really uncomfortable. I don't think that there is any value in anyone buying or holding my CC... at least at the time of writing. (Who knows maybe I'll find a way that feels right to migrate/ integrate my in IRL work here in the future, I am an internationally exhibiting artist and curator after all πŸ˜…) I am interested in where the discussion around staking and verification will take us.

@zordon @nader - I published this blog on Zirkels and it showed up on DiamondApp.com and now @Desocialworld too. Kudos to them for doing that.

https://zirkels.com/a/creator-coin-should-you-own-your-ownyour-friends-coins

But, it appears that the images (embedded within the article) don't show up and I had to come in and edit the post and paste the image again for it to show up. Can you please look into it and resolve it?

@edokoevoet - Same question for you too. I understand it might be a CORS issue where you need to add AWS Server to the list of allowable hosts.

Example Image URL:

@rohitnishad could you look into this? Is this Cloudflare related? Cc: @erwinwillems

I think it's a CORS file that has a list of allowed servers. @StarGeezer might know the specific file that needs to be modified. Or I can look too since I've seen the file in the past. LMK.

Great write up, Randhir. I do feel guilty selling people's coin, but if you can't, then what's the point of investing in the first place? To show support? Great, that why we agree to their FR or we could just support them by sending them DESO. It's called "investing" so that you can divest at some point and, hopefully, take a profit.

Relationships are the beauty of social media, but they also make creator coins challenging. DeSo needs to do a better job of normalizing coin sales without the stigma of rugging. One idea to do this would be to have a "Sell Earned %" button. Every week you hold, it goes up 1%. So if you hold for 5 weeks, you can sell 5% of someone's coin without feeling guilty. Just a thought off the top of my head.

My current workaround is to just have an anonymous alt account for creator coin investments. That takes the fun out of showing someone my support though.

I think cc in general needs to be improved!
Of course when I invest in someone the hope is the coin price to go up.
Consequence of this is that I can have profit over a cc.. But as you are stating, the "sale" is a difficult action to take if you have a good relationship with the other part.. Despite selling should be accepted generally, I also would be sad to see you, for example, selling my coin.. But at the end you have all the rights to do so..

Mayberry its easier to sell cc of a project instead of a real user?

Therefore, again, this is not the final solution, I am sure there will be changes that will make life a lot easier when it is the moment to sell a cc to take out profit..

Profits that of course would be reinvested into the platform, not cashed out!

At least with me, I would most likely only sell partially if I would sell unless, of course, I feel DeSo has no hope at all. My sales are usually due to the inactivity of a user and/or rebalancing my holdings if one of my coin holdings becomes too high or of course liquidity reasons. And yes, it is a mindset issue and over time, people will hopefully understand it better,

I’m glad I’m not the only OG that understands it’s important to buy your own CC before letting randoms buy in. For example my project is on pause because I need to buy more of my CC because if I let people get in now and I build utility and the coin blows up the random stranger would dump. Owning as many of your own CC can help protect your CC from the wrong people dumping. Nobody understands this except you thank you πŸ‘

Isn't a "major shareholder" a disincentive to investing, due to the risk of rugpulling? Of course, reputation worries balances that, but in general, I think it would be wise to dig further and see if the person we're about to invest in has an overall coherent internet identity (e.g. LinkedIn, etc.) or not.

E.g @dharmesh > I wouldn't expect rugpulls from him, his core values emerge from his efforts in all his public online activities, so even if he has 90% of his shares, that's not a worry.

@Randhir - Nov 03, 2022
Given the steep bonding curve, the creator or his friends not buying enough make it ripe for mini rug pulls by early investors. So, in the long run, you can divest most of your holdings. At one point, I along with close friends held around 14-17 coins. Via giveaways and trades, I've been able to bring it down now to around 8-9 Coins and including close family and friends 11-13 coins, and by the time I finish my monthly staking rewards over the next 8-10 months, it will probably come down to around 6-8 or even lesser and it's perfectly fine because by then the coins will spread across enough stakeholders not to result in one big sell resulting in big losses.

That reads like a nice playbook: buy early to protect the coin from bots / manipulation attempts, then progressively balance the percentages to protect real investors. Reads solid to me!
