Agree with point that projects need to get funded.

That project shall have vision at their place. Deso has decentralised data and graphs. These projects need to decentralised decision making. It means they have to make decentralised democratic framework. Otherwise work of deso of no use.

There are millions and millions apps. Most of users don’t know about their data. But they will bother if they have say in decision making. That will be real empowerment.

Adding to it, if in any way revenue is shared to these every user them that will be real incentive to be there on platform.

All projects shall have this on focus. We don’t want decentralised data and graphs but centralised decision making and money mechanisms. Otherwise it won’t be different of already giant social media platforms. 😊

💯
The first Octane Fund allocated funds very badly. Personally, I was surprised (in a bad way) by which projects received funding and how much. For me it was clear. I wish the foundation had been more involved in the community back then. It would be better to organize hackathons with bigger prizes and bounties at the time. However this time ecosystem is more mature and after DAODAO rebrand they should start using the funds again, but just more careful. Use it to make the highest impact.
I still don't understand how some this projects got $100k+ (or maybe not?) and it was not enforced to make it full time effort.
I'd like to see the transparency report. Who got, how much. I won't name names, but there is at least one popular member of the community that was Octane Funded and is still active in the community, but never delivered. For me it's stealing (from foundation and community).
If it was $10M spent indeed I'm speechless.

i think we have (at minimum) a two-fold issue with funding.
first, the journey of a project founder on DeSo shouldn't start at funding, but eventually develop there; by recognition and support of hard & good work, by Core. we won't attract good developers; if they carry funding as their primary/sole incentive. it's not the developers we need.
second, Core has to be accountable. they aren't. a good developer that carries an incentive other than *only* money won't even start to develop here, cause given he did a good job, he can't count on Core to, later in the progress, fund/support it, based on quality metrics. the foundation had to welcome people, be approachable (community management) and be accountable. none of this Core does.
yet, i can talk my ass off about this. i do for a year. to no avail. a few months ago i stopped. this blog post motivated me to repeat myself.
