Great post again JD. We think alike. I enjoy storms too. Love the power of nature on full roaring display. As long as I'm safe inside, looking out a window, storms are great :) : 2 : 1

@JDArmstrong - Jan 29, 2023 The ship I was on was a world class 2 ice breaker. HMAS Moresby. A pretty solid ship. Realistically it would have to be pretty rough and an I experienced helmsman on the bridge for something like that to happen. That would be directly the Captains fault if he left inexperience at the helm during rough seas. Or... rogue waves. More data is starting to come out about rogue waves with a record breaking rogue wave just last month I believe. I read an article last week. They are becoming more frequent and each recorded one is bigger than the last. Once thought a myth. These are real natural phenomenon. They seemingly spring up out of nowhere. Won't matter what ship, what experience. Even if you're facing the right direction. One of these bad boys gets you. You are done for. Found the article. Largest one on record. Feb 2022. So not last month. 58ft high. 17.6 metres. The waves at the time around it. 20ft average. Some reason we still don't know. They just occur. They said this size should only happen once every 1300 years. https://earthsky.org/earth/rogue-wave-most-extreme-on-record-canada/ : 2 : 2 |
