It looks like the phone call was not understandable at times. Here's what I said: "This is about one of the most famous rock songs in history: Pink Floyd‘s „Another Brick in the Wall“. In the recordings of Pink Floyd's album "The Wall" in 1979, German sound engineer Peter Fischer was involved. The deadline for the production of the album was near, and Fischer has been working all night on the last day. On the next day, Roger Waters, a member of Pink Floyd, listened to the final mix, and noticed a change in the lyrics of the song "Another Brick in the Wall": The text of the children's choir was different from the original. At the line "All in all it's just another brick in the wall," German words were clearly audible. The band members could only attribute this change to the German sound engineer. Fischer didn‘t arrive at home after that night. They looked for him, and found found his body… Peter Fischer had hanged himself in the attic of the studio. Or…. has been hanged. Further research revealed that Peter Fischer had grown up in an orphanage, where he was severely mistreated and regularly locked in the attic. The same happened to other children there. Regularly, a child was „taken under the roof“. Now about the changed line in the song. The children sing the words „Hol ihn, hol ihn unters Dach", which means: Get him, get him under the roof“ (so, to the attic). Hol ihn hol ihn unters Dach. And believe it or not: these german words are still in this song. Listen from minute 10:23 in this video. You hear the children singing: "Hol ihn hol ihn unter's Dach", another brick in the wall. : 5 : 1

This was amazing!! Great Halloween podcast. @Moggel Fantastic job! What a song…it’s just incredible to me how a song can be so famous that people all around the world, different generations too, know it. That was quite a story and of course I had never heard it. Moggel thank you for posting below what you said in the interview! Seeing the German words written out really helped me to grasp what you were saying. Honestly though…what I hear is, “all in all you’re just another brick in the wall”. But it’s probably because I don’t speak German. Our minds force us to try to make sense of words. It’s why I went around for 35 years singing the wrong lyrics to an Elton John song 😂 Great Podcast you guys! Happy Halloween!! 🎃👻 : 5 : 2

Gosh.... Actually I thought no not pink floyd 🙄!! I can almost dream this song. Not for that I like it so much, but because my husband has played it so many times and is a big fan of Ponk Floyd. Yes,of course I joined him to all the somewhat good cover bands of PF 🤨 So my first thought was... ahhh no Pink at DeSo and I get tagged? (But that was because I prefer to read English instead of listening) But Well, now that I read this story, you got me! I will immediately tonight tell my husband about it. In any case, it was unknown to me and I will listen to it very differently from now on. Thanks for sharing! 🙏 @moggel : 3 : 1 |
