Gals, I literally just spent 45 minutes looking for a photo because a picture says a thousand words! But to no avail. I think this song Spinning Wheel may hold more meaning for me than it does for most people. In 1978 I was 10 years old and was moving up in my passion for gymnastics. I started very late for a gymnast (age 9). My mom told me I could not fit gymnastics in to my schedule. So I quit tap, ballet, jazz, toe, acrobatics, roller skating, bowling, Girl Scouts and softball and put full time into gymnastics! Eventually going 6 days a week for 4 hours a day. But in 1978 I was sill only a Class III gymnast (btw, the ranking system has since flipped…pardon the pun 😊). The compulsory floor routine was done to a lyric free Spinning Wheel!! I heard this song over and over and over while practicing my routine that year…and my teammates routines. I still remember the routine too for the most part. And because it was so basic, I bet at 55 years old, I could still do it 😂 I was looking for the photo of me doing my routine to this song. Sorry for the ramble but this just brought back so many memories. The irony that it is by a group called Blood, Sweat & Tears is not lost on me! I experienced ALL of those in my gymnastics career!!!!! Blood 🩸 Sweat 😓 and tears 😢 @Gaike as a fellow gymnast, I thought you might want to see this post 🤗 Donna, it’s great to see your face. I’ve been thinking of you and I hope you are doing ok 💛 : 9 : 3

@Gaike - Sep 28, 2023 oh how funny to read! If you find one picture later I love to see!! Yes, those gymnastics tunes always had a lot of meaning. But I spent more time on it with my daughter, who was better than me... 😅 : 6 : 1 |
@Moggel - Sep 29, 2023 I have two daughters, and they do ice skating (figure skating)… so I know a bit about this „blood sweat and tears“ too… About the song. This is for @MusicHeals now ;) Almost every time, almost always, I watch the @MusicHeals video, or @ThisDayInMusicHistory too, but I seldom (or never) interact. It is because of these reasons: - the songs you choose are a bit „before my time“, I‘m born 1977. I mean, I‘m very interested in music and music history, but the music I love started in the 80s. - I love any real and authentic music, with „real“ instruments, but my passion is about rock, hard rock, and …. metal. The hard‘n heavy stuff. Yes, with all this screaming and growling, fast and loud. I think that you don‘t share this passion, no offense, I 100% understand it, I don‘t expect that anybody else loves this kind of music, and I‘m used to this. 90% of metal bands and songs I think are awful, but this applies to all genres I think. Even to classic music. But the other 10%, wow, I love them. To me, metal and classic music have so much in common. Can you believe this? Would you like me to show you some examples? 😎 🤘 : 6 : 1

@ThisDayInMusicHistory - Sep 30, 2023 Who are some of the heavy metal bands you listen too? I love some hard rock borderline heavy metal. I just don’t like when they scream and you don’t know what the heck they are singing 😅 : 3 : 1
