Wow! You are amazing 🀩 I would not like this. But I think my new son-in-law’s mom is into this. I will try to remember later to come back and watch. It froze up on me and it’s 1:00 in the morning 😊 So I will try again later. Such a nice effort for you to teach us. Thank you!

Hi Many thanks for your praise ok - the video is a bit long, but I also made it for beginner beekeepers and it takes time. It's also one of my first English videos and I need to get a bit more confident with the terminology but I'm just going to chat away. If you really want to become a beekeeper you should join one of your local clubs and watch videos like this as a supplement - you can only learn beekeeping in practice. But I will be making more videos for non-beekeepers too, covering topics such as apitherapy (pharmacy from the beehive - honey, wax, pollen, propolis, royal jelly, bee venom, perga and hive air). Or give consumer tips - what to look out for when buying honey and much more. Also art with beeswax and bee history through to bee mythology As I said, the topic is almost inexhaustible and there should be something for everyone. And I'm happy to show and explain it - because it's a passion.

Cool and scary 😱 to see but to be honest I was so curious because of your explanation! I did not understand well, why was you searching for the queen and what should you do with her if you found?

You are telling that’s it was a video for but advanced, but I am curious as a watcher!

Ok One of the aims of an inspection is to prevent a swarm. What is a swarm? In a swarm, the old queen leaves the hive with some of the worker bees and looks for a new dwelling because a new queen is about to emerge from so-called queen cells. My aim is to find these queen cells and remove them, because then the old queen will not leave the hive. However, if the old queen has already swarmed, then the queen cells must not be removed as this would deprive the colony of the opportunity to make a queen and thus survive. It is therefore important to try to find the old queen in the hive during an inspection because then you can be sure that no swarm has left. If I don't find the queen, which can be the case with all the chaos, as a beekeeper I still have the opportunity to check whether I find eggs from the queen. If I find eggs I know that a queen must have laid them recently (1-2 days) and the probability is high that there is a queen in the colony. And I can therefore determine to remove existing queen cells (eggs there - queen there) or not to remove (no queen found and no eggs found). I hope my explanation in English was sufficient. But don't worry, even in the beekeeping course the beginners need a while until they have understood this

Ahhh no I understand! Thank you for your explanation. And why is it so important that she does not leave the old basket? Purely productivity? And if she finds a new place, something happens to the current bees? For example the behavior due to lack? In the beginning you had no trouble gathering all those bees, it seems pretty scary to get used to. How did you get into this? Sorry for all my questions πŸ˜…

"And why is it so important that she does not leave the old basket? Purely productivity?" Correct, the more bees you have, the stronger and more vital the bee colony is, the more honey they produce. But the quality of the honey also increases with the number of bees, because more enzymes are added to it. What happens to the colony with the new queen. The new queen hatches and kills all the other queen cells, there can only be one. She then takes over the finished nest of the old queen with the workers that are not with the swarm, the honey, pollen and brood of the old queen. After about 7 days the new queen makes her nuptial flight and is mated by several drones from other colonies. The new queen can then lay eggs and the colony becomes larger again. The old queen looks for a new cavity with the swarm where she builds a new nest, we beekeepers usually catch this swarm and give them a suitable hive. The swarm then gives us two bee colonies. So the swarm is the reproduction of the bee and the egg-laying is only the maintenance of the population

Stay cool Tony Maybe I'll be lucky this year and I'll be there with the camera during a swarm departure, then it will be really interesting when 30000 bees are swarming around you - that's a total natural event that you won't forget. But you need to be on the ball and have a camera with you at the right moment.

Just finished ur 16 minute video beehive inspection. It was delightful yet terrifying video lesson πŸ˜… Though I am lil terrified in bees, it was satisfying and fascinating to watch you beekeeping, their colonies and it's natural structure. 🐝

Bees have always had a special attraction for humans - it is said that there is something divine in them. When Adam and Eve had to leave paradise, bees were the only animals that God did not banish. Out of loyalty and solidarity, they left paradise to help people on their way. However, God always gave them the opportunity to return to paradise if they wished. That is why they say: Where there are bees, paradise is not far away.
