I think when Focus launches DeSo will shortly drop in price because those who had their DeSo reserved to receive coins may want to sell $DeSo once they receive $Focus.

Very possible cuz I wanted to reserve more for Focus but the reservation ended early. I myself have started moving a bit of Deso to get ready to buy Focus when it launches end of this month. I think $FOCUS is the move for the rest of this cycle. $DESO will still perform but there may be much more upside for $FOCUS

But $focus isn't cashable without $deso, plus staking is in DeSo. I think there's a lot of airdrop grifters reserved in $focus waiting to just dump as soon as they get free coins. All those anon accounts with millions that never posted, I'm afraid, will dump

you can only sell deso backed focus tokens that were either reserved or purchased when trading begins the airdop $focus tokens will be locked for 365 days before youre able to sell the bonus reserve focus 50-100%, depending when you made the reservation is locked for 5 years before you re able to sell

Sure behind the scenes it may use $deso to convert to usdc and such but at the end of the day $focus has its own trading market and I'm speculating new users will only know focus and will want to trade $focus. Money will flow to where the most attention is. The bonus token unlocks in 5 years and the $focus rewards received for creators are also locked for a year. So as long as you trade within the year before the supply unlock you're gucci.

I mean once you get $focus you get your $deso back and thats when some people will sell if they don't care about DeSo platform. They'll wait through the lock up period to then sell $focus.

I don't think the whitepaper mentioned anything about getting your $deso back after $focus launches. It will be used as liquidity for the AMM bonding curve. And there will always be a floor limit order at $0.001 so you can always sell $focus token you received to get your $deso back but you won't get both $focus and original $deso. So I don't think this will be an issue for the price of $deso to dip all that much.

This is exactly how I understood it. We reserve $focus by reserving our $deso until Focus launch and then get our $deso back. Am I wrong @darian_parrish @Krassenstein @mossified ?

You have to *sell* the $FOCUS back (for $DESO) to the floor bid when the $FOCUS token launches.

$FOCUS is backed by $DESO.. so you sell $FOCUS, to get $DESO, and keep your Bonus reservation tokens. Otherwise, you can keep $FOCUS and hold OR trade it for a higher price, if the floor rises.

I'd expect $focus to rise in price because many weren't able to reserve. As long as $focus price isn't going below $deso price it sounds good

you re not getting your deso back. you re not getting $deso and focus you reserved a position in focus via putting down deso. your $focus is now backed by demand of people trading it for their deso. if you wanted your deso again then you have to sell $focus for the floor bid of focus token

Very simply, you’ve exchanged your deso for focus. As a bonus you get some extra focus tokens that unlock 5 years later. If you decide you don’t want to hold unto focus anymore you can sell it in openfund for deso. Greta thing is $Focus will launch at price of $0.001 and will never go below this price for a full year. So you will always be able to recoup the original amount you’ve reserved in Deso.

Isn't $OPENFUND and $FOCUS both backed by $DESO? So holding the most in $DESO would make most sense as a long-term investor because you capture value across all coins on the layer?

That’s the lazy approach sure. Kinda akin to just holding Eth instead of Uniswap or other products built on Eth which had higher return on investment. But things I suggested were for more active investors and how I see the rotation of money happening and for whoever wants to take advantage of that.
