Hi Tony Yes, a colony has a queen - there can only be one - unless the bees make a new queen, in which case the old queen leaves the colony and starts a new one, leaving a built nest for the new queen. This is what beekeepers call swarming. Bees are not wasps and because you are in the apiary and not working on them, they usually do not harm you. I sometimes work on my bees without protection, but I have got into the habit of wearing protection in my videos. A sting to the head can also lead to unsightly swelling. But I'll talk about that another time - about bee venom.
