Not sure I want to take the time to bridge... you scared me off with all the talk about it not being quick

Go connect an alt wallet to the network and get 3.55 $CANTO from the faucet if you want to poke around without being able to do much.

@WilliamLaurent if you notice I used your name to help my boomer audience identify with blockchains other than ICP.

Gotta love that decentralized ETH though 😁 https://www.crypto-news-flash.com/these-3-centralized-cloud-service-providers-control-66-of-ethereum-nodes/

Very refreshing to read content like this on DeSo, instead of reading random stuff with no value and no point, or just DeSo stuff (weekly newsletter would be enough for that).

Btw. Since the content to noise ratio on DeSo is highly skewed to noise, I enjoyed Farcaster a lot more lately.

Thanks! 🙌 After spending a day on crypto Twitter I can say DeSo content is still better. I'll have to check out Farcaster for the first time!

Any security concerns or observations?

Not so far, but always use a burner when exploring any new crypto project. What security concerns do you have in mind? One risk would be if you are staking there is slashing and I don't think pools are very distributed like ETH. If a validator misbehaves, any tokens delegated to them will be slashed by: *️⃣ 0.75% in the case of prolonged downtime *️⃣ 4% in the case of consensus faults

No specific concerns. Just always cautious with new projects. Was curious if there was anything that jumped out at you as potentially problematic.

When you started talking about bridges this and that …I knew this chain was vapor ware . I’ll See you in CkBTC land , and if bringing smart contracts to bitcoin was not enough , wait till you see the native ETH integration. But you’ll be too busy wrapping and hypothicstimg tokens. I suppose your building tie next NFT project on SOL. Turdburglar 💩

Thanks for this write up. I’ve been curious about Canto but haven’t had the time to look further so this post is great.

Like others have said - the bridging issue is a big turn off for me at this stage. Last year I made an effort to go out there and try all of the small L1s out there and all of the ones with limited/complicated bridging options have been withering away. If Canto continues to skyrocket then kudos to those that dealt with the pain. I’ll likely wait until they build out a bit more.

Will check out the faucet though!

Yeah, the problem I had was you need to generate a Canto public key associated with your Metamask which requires Canto or ETH but it didn't work with ETH because it wouldn't trigger a signature request in Metamask. After you get through that step it's fairly simple it just takes a long time (15-20 minutes) and I'm impatient. 😅

Ah ok - well if the faucet ends up being painless I'll probably venture out some more. One of the worse ones I tried last year was the Astar network - I had to use like multiple wallets to bridge the assets over. Was a real pain.
